A Meditation Session of Five Minutes on the Eyes and Ten Minutes Whole Body

Jeffrey Alexander Martin (00:02.19)

Jeff Martin here, founder of resetmeditation .com. So I just did a short meditation session. I did five minutes focused on my eyes and then I did 10 minutes going through the rest of the body. And I'd mentioned in a video earlier today that life is going good, right? In general, bunch of good stuff. And it's easy to ignore meditation or anything that helps.

with your life, the good practices at that point because everything's going well and yet that mistake which I've made many times it becomes very noticeable as stuff builds up. And so just a little bit about how that went. The five minutes on the eyes. At first they were kind of burning, right? It's not necessarily important to know the reasons but I assume that's a decent amount of pollen from the hike earlier today and that type of thing. And the back of the eyes especially were really burning. And...

over time, over the session, over the five minutes, that burning win away, probably about halfway through something like that. And then I can just kind of feel the wetness. There was a little bit of itchiness still, but not too bad.

mind was a little chaotic jumping around just the different things that I have to do that type of thing as it kind of calmed down, right? Settled down. And then immediately after the five minutes and I was reclining the couch doing this immediately after the five minutes, I went into 10 minutes where I did, I started at my right toes went up my right leg across down the other leg back up into my stomach and into my chest. And then my arm starting at the fingers on one arm fingers on the other.

and then going up the spine and into the neck and the head to cover everything right to feel so because our base experience is feeling sensation right no one else can experience for us and we have so many thoughts and ideas and concepts that are

put into us that we take in purposely. And those are not base experience, right? They're not the most true aspect of reality that we directly experience. So that's the idea is with meditation, we are directly experiencing our own sensations.

So not everything can be covered, right? I mean, you would take a book to try to explain everything that we experience in a meditation session. So I'll just hit on a couple of couple of key noticeable things. One is that when I got up to about my right knee, which is very early in the session, had almost like a little bit of anxiety, no idea why, right? So but that's not important. The important aspect is to experience it. So just had a little bit there. After I'd gone through both legs as I was coming through,

back up to go through the torso, my right hip hurt a little bit and like deep down, actually my right hip hurt a little bit inside the joint itself. Not sure why, you know, everything's going decent as far as that can be considered as, you know, a nice hike earlier today, that type of thing. And but nothing really chaotic associated with that. As I was going up my spine, I actually

experienced some jumping around of my thoughts. And I'm reading a great autobiography by David Ogilvie, who major important person in the advertising industry and the history of that. I'm listening to a great audiobook and autobiography by Elizabeth Keckley, which is a slave during the Civil War era that had bought herself out of slavery and then ended up providing clothing. She was a seamstress, provided clothing to

the President's family, Lincoln's family, and also the Davis family, the President of the Confederate side and the Union side, which is pretty wild, wild story there and thinking about a lot of things, right? So mine kind of jumped around between that. And then also some imagery came up of a family like having a dispute in a field for some reason in a weird way, right? Not associated with anything. I can't think of like a movie or a show or a book I've read where that's really been in there.

experience I've had recently where that necessarily makes sense. So those are just some of the stuff that comes up when we just move through and it resolves itself. It's just for us to experience and that's what the experience is. That's what my experience was.

So the idea of resetmeditation .com is to help support, right? Inspiring support to the practice of sensation meditation and sharing these experiences. I think it'd be super important. So resetmeditation .com right now is set up pretty basic with contact information, but if you put it in there, I'll reach out to you and I'm working on getting a private inspiration and support group started along with a personal coaching sessions and already have one person trained on that. So feel free to.

reach out.
